the amazing GCTS 2011 yearbook committee

Yes. We finally did it. We have finished the 2011 yearbook! It's been a long, tiring, yet somewhat fun and memorable journey and it's all worth it in the end. I had this warm, fuzzy feeling inside when I first saw the yearbook. Hahahaha.

Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I'm so proud of these guys (plus the other Media Siswa & Ang XXIII) and I just want to congratulate all of us because we have done IT! CHEERS!

MUH-ROON FIVE!

Who doesn't know this Grammy award-winning band? So when I knew that they were coming to Jakarta, I couldn't resist but to buy the ticket, which was pretty pricey (IDR 800000 so it's about USD 100 or something). Even though it was put at that price, the tickets were sold out in ten hours! And yes, it was worth every single penny of my money.

Their concert was held on Wednesday, April 27th 2011. Some of my friends skipped class to get front row view of the show. I would love to do that too but I could never prioritize some concert over school. And so I went there with Petra, Astrid (Petra's sister), Deva, and Gaby. Gaby's mom drove us there. By the time we arrived at Istora, thank God the line wasn't that long.

After a few steps, we were inside the building and we saw that the first few rows weren't filled yet. We practically ran inside the concert hall and found quite a good spot. We were in the center-left of the third row. It was about 5pm. While the concert started at 8pm. 3 hours of waiting? No problem.

At 8pm, none of the band members came out. The crowd was starting to get frustrated. We were shouting, "Muh-roon 5! Muh-roon 5!" the entire time. And by 8:15pm the lights were finally turned off and we heard the intro of Misery. And the next thing we knew, Adam Levine was on stage, standing and posing in front of us. He was even more handsome and hotter in person. We screamed so hard!

To tell you the truth, I'd already found out about their setlist for the show so I wasn't really surprised with the songs they sang. But man, did Adam kill it or what. Maroon 5 really knew how to put on a show. This might sound silly, but he sounded WAY BETTER in person than in my iTunes. I mean, some singers auto-tuned themselves to sound better in their songs, and I just thought that Adam did too. But nope, he was AH-MAZING. He moved all over the stage and was flirting with the ladies in the crowd. He even sprayed the water that he drank on us. Igotsprayedtoojustsoyouknow. Hahaha omg I sounded so fangirl-like.

Anyways, the surprise was not when Adam said, "Aku cinta kamu." to the ladies. It was when they performed the acoustic version of She Will be Loved. At the end of the song, the crowd suddenly turned into their backing vocals! We sang, "Please don't try so hard to say goodbye..." as Adam sang his line. It was spectacular. Adam was completely surprised. He pointed his finger at us and said things like, "You guys are such good singers! Such good singers. I love it." "And you do it without me even asking you to. That's great." "One more time, that sounds so beautiful!" And the thing that made my heart melts was when he said, "This is the best crowd we've ever had! It really is." in the middle of singing Never Gonna Leave This Bed. Well I can't blame him though, we sang along to every single songs they brought. It was crazy!

Here are some pics of the show that I took with my cellphone.

The esteemed Michael "Mickey" Madden. Bassist.

Adam in action! One of my favorite pictures from the show. I can't believe I was able to shot this!

The concert was wild. There was this girl who tried so hard to get in front of me that she actually had the guts to pull my hair. I had to shove her out of my way. HAHA. But this was definitely unforgettable! Even now I still can't believe that I'd seen Adam Levine in person. It was just so surreal. I've been listening and singing to their songs since 5th grade and then there he was, performing in front of my eyes. What an indescribable feeling.

Oh, have I mentioned that Adam Levine himself posted four videos of his tour in Jakarta on Adam Levine's Video of The Day? But don't take my word for it. Take his:

Bottom line is, what a spectacular concert to be in and I'm so so glad that I got to be in that crowd and see Adam Levine, James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Matt Flynn perform. LOVE YOU MAROON 5! COME BACK TO JAKARTA SOON! XO

currently obsessed with this:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I know, yeah sure, call me late. I don't even know why I'm starting to love this TV show. I used to fall asleep every time Castle was airing on Star World. But then there was one episode--I can't remember which one it was, that caught my attention and I've never missed a single episode of Castle Season 2 since then. And apparently, my brother is also a fan of the show. He never told me before because he couldn't watch the whole show by himself. LOL.

So yesterday before bed, I was randomly switching channels when I saw that Castle was on. So I watched it with my brother. The episode was the one where Castle accidentally met his ex on her wedding which was ruined because someone got murdered. It was such a sweet episode because Beckett then realized her feelings for Castle. Awwww.

Errrr... right. Out of topic. Anyways, we went sleeping the moment Castle was over. And when I opened my eyes again, I was at a crime scene. I don't know, maybe it was the effect of watching a TV show before bed. It was a huge two-story building and there were lots of people there; I couldn't recognize their faces one by one. But I did see some of my friends like, Rifa, Ave, Danivan, and some other guys. Apparently, we were attending a party and some dude got killed. Someone cut the arteries in his neck with something metallic. We were being interrogated by a detective who looked a lot like Beckett. When it was my turn, I was nervous as hell. I swear, I thought I was the murderer. Because after I was being interrogated, I started having flashbacks on how I hated whoever that person who got killed and that I was also planning to kill the dude. My heart was racing, thinking how I could end up being a murderer. The thought that this was just a dream never occurred to me. I was about to give myself up to the police when they came to me and the other guests, saying that Rifa was the murderer. I was stunned. I tried remembering, did I really kill this dude? Or was it Rifa? I was so sure that I was the one who killed him, but I convinced myself that maybe it was all in my head. I was a mess. I couldn't see straight because my eyes started tearing up and my legs were shaking real bad....

And THANK GOD I woke up after that. You don't know how relieved I was the moment I realized that it wasn't real. Even though my heart was still pounding by then.

But anyways, it was one heck of a dream. Not looking forward on having another one of those dreams but if it weren't for Castle, I wouldn't have a story to post on this blog. Right? ;)

gloomy week.

This week has been so hectic. And not in the way I had hoped it would be. It all started on Saturday, February 12th. Us MESIS XXIII was having this so-called Amazing Race with our ca.ang and let me tell you, it was a blast. We had fun like we've never had before. And afterwards some of MESIS XXIII went to McDonalds to have lunch and talk about stuff. It was getting dark so we decided to move to my house and discuss more about that stuff.

Not long after that, my friend J got a broadcast message. And that was it. The news.

As soon as we heard about it, our mood dropped drastically. Some of us (including me) started to cry. I personally only knew him from a distance. He used to come to my class almost everyday. But it was just too shocking to actually believe it, because the last time I saw him (on Friday) he was in such fit condition.

And so, me and some of 8'2012 went to his funeral on Sunday, February 13th. There were so many familiar faces who came. From families, to teachers, and friends. Even some of our Year 12 seniors and alumni came to give him the last goodbye. I cried again. It was one of those dark moments that simply sucked the happiness out of your body. I couldn't think of even the slightest positive thought in my head.

The grief atmosphere continued on Monday. The moment I entered the gate, I knew, today was going to be different. And it was. Since the first day of being a student here, I honestly had never felt a day darker than that Monday. The halls, which used to be filled with laughter and screams, were oddly quiet. It's as if someone had put a mute button to this school. Drops of rain kept falling down since morning and the cloudy sky didn't turn sunny for just one minute. It almost felt like the sky was also crying with us.

You see, the strangest part was, somewhere on that Monday, someone left a note on my desk. And it said:

It's weird because the paper was torn apart in half since the moment I found it. And when I turned the other half, I realized something. After all that we've been through. After all those moments that we had to pass together as one union. I think what we really need now is a bit of

P.S.: My deepest condolences goes to Arsya Pratama. May he rest in peace and may God bless his family with patience and strength.
P.P.S.: Keep fighting, to my dearest second family, 8'2012! Everything happens for a reason. Just remember: together, better, stronger!

Last Wednesday, M told me something which really surprised me. I was accompanying Petra having lunch in front of our school when she suddenly came. She just finished practicing for a competition. She ordered a drink and said the most peculiar thing. "Ri, Pet, you wouldn't believe what I'm about to tell you! It's about (insert noun). We were talking about how he never played with other guys and he told me that it's because guys our age are immature, while the girls act more politely."

Then apparently, M started asking him about asdjghfk and what he thought about it. She was about to tell us but I was just too scared to hear about it. I covered my ear and randomly blabbing about how she shouldn't tell his secret to other people. In the end, she didn't have the chance to speak about it because things got pretty distracting afterwards.

Days went by and I started to get curious. What did he really say about asdjghfk? Oh the hell with it, let's just get this over with. So I went with my guts and texted her to ask about that thing. I was pretty embarrassed because I felt like I just licked my own spit. But that feeling was suddenly replaced by xcjdwkla as soon as I read her reply.

M: Hahahahaha! Jadi, dia kan (insert verb here) sama (insert adjective here). He said asdjghfk is like, really (insert more adjectives here).

I couldn't believe he said that. And if he really did, I don't know how to feel about it. I mean, it just doesn't make sense. Metaphorically, let's put it this way. It's like, you said, "NYC is the greatest city ever!" but the moment you're there, you suddenly bail for no serious reason. I mean, I wasn't expecting more from it either. It's just that, why, of all the millions of words in this world, did he have to choose those? And he should've understood how words spread in this school. I would sooner or later found out about it. Or.... never mind.

Yeah it might seem cheesy. But it definitely makes me go asdjghfk.

discovering Anyer with X-G! part 1

Hola!!!! Yeah, I'm back and on this post, there will be a lot of love for my beloved class as I'll be telling you about our farewell trip to

Day 1
June, 28th 2010
We were asked to come to Dunkin Donuts at 6 am before going to Anyer. I came a little late, which was about 6.20 am. Half the people were already there, including Avia, even though she didn't come:'( Some of us were eating and chatting while we were waiting for all the people to come. There were only 24 of us as the other couldn't make it for several reasons. Those people are me, Ima, Adila, Fadhilah, Mia, Putri, Mitha, Thata, Zhavira, Radia, Ifa, Anin, Randy, Bakoy, Afiq, Rifqi, Aryo, Irfan, Togar, Marsha, Iqbal, Ryan, Dion, and Robby. I really wished all of X-G could make it, though.

Anyway, after 3 hours of waiting, we finally hit the road with 5 cars, if I'm not mistaken. We arrived at Anyer about 3,5 hours later which was at 11.30 am. We stayed at some kind of complex full of cottages, called Pisita. The beach there was not bad for me. There were a lot of corals so we couldn't play any beach sports, but I still enjoyed it as the water was very clear and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing.

So Ima, Adila, Fadhilah, Mia, Putri, and I got to take some pictures at the beach before going to the other one. Here are some of them,

Next, after lunch and watching the re-run of England vs Germany on TV, we decided to go to a beach where we could all play and do water sports. See, the funny thing is, we only used two cars for all 24 of us so we were all jostling, trying to fit twelve people in one car. Thirteen actually, if you count the driver lol. Two of the guys (which are Afiq and Rifqi), on the other hand, chose to ride the bicycle instead as the guys' car was so full. In the end, when we were already on our way, they couldn't get out of the complex because the bike was rented. But they came anyway, by taking the "mikrolet".

So at first, we THOUGHT we could get into Marbella Beach by pretending to be the guests of the hotel. But who would believe that when there were twelve teenagers and one confused driver in one car? Hahahaha. And so our plan failed. On the bright side, we found another beach which was almost as nice as Marbella's. And right there, the moment we'd arrived, we just couldn't wait to feel the sand in our feet and get wet (even though I was only half-wet, in the end LOL).

I remember, Adila and I were the first to wet our feet as we literally ran to the beach as soon as our feet touched the sand hahaha. It was a hell lot of fun! The guys played in the water, some of us were banana boat-ing too, and even Putri--who didn't come down to the beach, also put on these fake flower tattoos on both of her hands. Mitha and I, on the other hand, took the pictures :D

We were having a blast! We couldn't stop smiling and laughing, especially with all the funny stuff going on. There were actually more photos but I couldn't show them all here now, can I? I'll upload the photos later in Facebook (sorry for keeping you waiting, guys!). Time flew so fast when we were having fun, and the next thing we realized was this.

Sunset. It was beautiful; the sky was turning orange-ish and the sun had this warm glow that made me even more comfortable, especially with the breezy air and the sound of waves crashing on the beach. It was just such a wonderful experience.

We decided to go back to the cottage before it got dark. And I guess the darker the sky got, the more fun we had! Hahaha because after dinner, we'd watch the football match between Netherlands and Slovakia and then it was time for the legendary truth or dare. Woohooo! But I'm going to tell about them here. Just wait for my next post;);)

Talk to you later!
Note: the pictures are all taken by me, except the ones where I'm also in it--of course

the one time I'm really touched by a wedding

So yesterday evening, I went to my dad friend's son's wedding. It was held at Century Park Hotel, Senayan and as usual, I was freaking lazy to go. But I had to because, my mom was out of town and my brother and I had to accompany my dad. I thought it was going to be another anonymous-wedding-I-need-to-attend-to party, but it wasn't. I think it was one of the sweetest weddings I've ever attended.

Here's the story.
The groom is an employee of an international bank, where he worked as one of those customer-service-guys (I don't know his position in the company). So anyway, who would've thought that by serving customers of the bank, he'd met his soulmate? Yes, his wife, used to be one of his customers! Isn't that so cute? I think so :3 The sweeter part is the fact that their relationship kept going even though they were in different cities for one year! That's what I call love, I think.

the picture is edited and taken from here

Back to the wedding, my brother and I were instantly separated from my dad as he went to meet some of his friends. He said that he'd call me when he was finished. While we were waiting, we decided to follow the wedding procession. We heard testimonials of the newlyweds' friends and we even heard the groom sang to his bride! Awww. He said that, back when they were still dating, she used to ask him to sing that song but he denied. But he did it anyway, in front of hundreds of people, while staring and smiling at his bride. Very. Sweet. Indeed. So anyway, after that it was time to cut the wedding cake. It was huge and looked so yummy. I didn't get the cake, though. Because, well, I don't know them.

Next was the part when the bride tossed her bouquet of flowers to the audience, hoping that the one who caught it would be the next bride. I heard the emcee said, "For all the single ladies, please step forward! Or for the ladies who are already in a relationship but haven't been proposed yet." Then all of a sudden, the front of the ballroom was filled with young women who are probably the newlyweds' friends and cousins. And as the emcee did a countdown, I thought,

Someday, maybe I'll be attending one of my friends' wedding and did the same thing as those women (or maybe, you know, vice versa ;p). Now, in high school, most of us would think, "When will my crush like me back? Will I ever be in a relationship?" And in the next 10 years we'd probably think, "When will my boyfriend propose me? Will I ever get married?" The same insecure feelings that we had back then. And I think it doesn't just apply in relationship problems, that insecurity will also occur on the first day of work or the first time we're in college. We'd worry that we'd never fit in. Just like what we'd thought on the first day of our freshman year in high school.

And so, as the bride threw her bouquet full of pink and white flowers, I came to my own conclusions that, the world is like one really big and even-more-complicated high school:)

P.S. Speaking of high school, I received my report card yesterday and I've made it to Year 11 Science class! Woohooo

the movie is called

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Today, Petra and I went to fX to watch this movie. The film started at 12:30pm and we arrived at 12:21pm but good thing the studio was almost empty. We still got tickets! The movie was terrific. It was definitely worth-watching. And like most of the people I know, I teared up while watching the movie. It was sad and it made me think of my old Barbie and Bratz dolls hahaha. But the fact that I was crying, made Petra a bit confused. She said that it was sad but she didn't cry. Guess I'm just a wee bit more sensitive than her. LOL.

I'm not going to give you any spoilers--because I know someone just doesn't like it. NAH I'll still write them anyway ;D So, if you don't want to know what happens in the movie, you can at least enjoy some of the previews I got you at the end of this post!

Andy was seventeen years old and ready to go to college. He had to make decisions of what he should bring, what he should leave and put in the attic, and what should be thrown away. When he opened his toy box, he saw his remaining toys left. After thinking for a while, he decided that he'd only bring Woody and put the rest of the toys in a trash bag and put them in the attic. But then his mom accidentally threw them away. Before the garbageman could take the plastic bag (which the toys were in), they'd managed to rip the bag off and runaway. But they thought Andy was giving them up. The toys decided that they should be off to a daycare instead, where there'd be plenty of kids for them to play with. When Woody saw this, he tried to stop them but he got carried away to the daycare--which was called Sunnyside, too. The moment they'd arrived at there, it was toy-heaven. There were a lot of children and the so-called facilities were perfect for them. But after a while, they found out that it wasn't what it seemed to be. They planned to runaway and go back to Andy's room. That's when the adventure begins...

our last day

I remembered it like it was yesterday. It was May 27th and it was one of the saddest days of X-G. It was our last day of studying together and Pak Trisno took a picture of us while we were studying Maths.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm so grateful that our last day was on Thursday because, of all the school days, it was the most "relaxing" day considering the subjects taught on that day were Sociology, Maths (with Pak Tris), IT, Cinematography, and English (with Ms Diah Zen). We also did a questionnaire even though the results are still not done yet. But I'll try counting it faster before our farewell party! Anyway, these are some of the photos taken that day.

(Some of) the guys

(Some of) the girls

We took them while we were in IT class. Well, the second one, that is. The teacher didn't come and we'd finished our assignments. Anyway, next was Cinematography. We got to watch a movie--which I forgot what the title was, because I was counting the votes in the questionnaire. I think it was a pretty gross movie with all the snots and everything, it was kind of funny though.

After school, a few of us went to Indies, which is a place for watching DVDs in the big screen. We decided to watch a horror movie and it came down to Alone. I'd watched it before so it wasn't as scary as before, though I still covered my eyes most of the time. But watching it X-G was so fun. I could actually laugh! And when heart-thumping scenes came up, I looked away and saw one of the guys texting someone else and apparently he was scared too;) There was also someone who screamed with a really funny sound and we burst out laughing even though the ghost showed up in the movie. It was a whole lot of F-U-N, FUN!

Thank you X-G for everything. For my first year in high school, you guys have made me enjoy every days of it! Especially my dear chair mate, Petra Bella, who has been next to me since 7th grade. I'll miss you and X-G so bad!!!

today is the day

I'm freaking happy!!! Hahahahaha
You wanna know why?

Okay, well, I'm not going to tell you in details about this. But it started with a piece of a crumpled paper. It belonged to someone else's but they decided to throw it away (which was accidentally put on my desk). And when I saw what it was, my heart instantly pounded. Yes people, on the paper, was written (in a bad scribbles) two repeated letters which have been making me jump for joy. I know this will sound so pathetic, but it's probably one of the happiest thing that has happened to me this month.

Yay for me!

these people have stolen my heart

... yes, they have. And we are X-G Class of 2012 SMA N 8 Jakarta

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The first official photo of X-G. Guess which one is me?

These people are super fun! I've had one of the best experiences with them. And even though at first we weren't that close, I think time has managed to create a bond between all 40 of us (awww). There's no way I could find these unique, crazy, loud, cool people in one class anywhere else!

So here's the deal. I'm a freshman in high school. On my first day of school after orientation week, I found out that I'd be studying in X-G for my first year in SMA N 8 Jakarta. I saw all these familiar (and not so familiar) faces and I started to wonder whether or not this class would work out. Especially on the first couple of weeks, it was very quiet and I could hear my own thoughts louder than the sound of my classmates talking.

But then we started to bond. The girls were finally talking together because my chair mate, Petra, had a not-so-secret admirer from another class and we also played a friendship/relationship test using my cell phone. And then, I started to realize that there's a person that looks almost like Mr. Barrack Obama, who was then voted to be our class coordinator. Yes, his name is Fahrur. Not long after that, I also found out that there's one guy that also looks like the all-time King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and his name is Rifqi. But since then we call him Jacko LOL. Later, other students also get nicknames like, Bang Gan, Babe, Bang Jen, Cepot, Anak SD, Bayi, Bandeng, Ayam, Yuyun, Sule, Bebek, Pipi, Mas Boy (guess who those people are!)

I remember once, our school held a break-fasting together and X-G's was in class X-D. We ate dinner together and we had lots of laughter and fun, then we took lots of pictures! Then there was also the big cinematography project, and even though it was a bit tiring but the result and the experience itself were surely worth it. OH and our class is probably the most "moveable" class in 8'2012, because in term 1 we were moved temporarily to AV IPS and now we're also studying in class XII IPA H. But no matter in which class we are, as long as I'm with X-G it's still fun!

We had lots of memories together, from the bad ones to the really great ones. If you want to read some of them, just type in the word #kenanganXG on Twitter search and you'll find lots of our tweets about those unforgettable memories! But I think the most memorable one is our class musicale, Thalia White. It was, I think, one of the best musicale ever the most fun things I've ever done!!! The making of the musicale itself had a lot of dramas hahaha but we got through it together :) And even though the rehearsals were way better than the performance (due to some technical difficulties) it was still a big success since we totally killed our song finale, Don't Stop Believing!

All those memories and I only got less than a week to spend time studying with them in class. Ugh, I always hate goodbyes. And this one would probably be one of the hardest. Cause like the title of this post, they have stolen a part of my heart (unyu). I'll always remember you guys, this class rocks!
