MUH-ROON FIVE!

Who doesn't know this Grammy award-winning band? So when I knew that they were coming to Jakarta, I couldn't resist but to buy the ticket, which was pretty pricey (IDR 800000 so it's about USD 100 or something). Even though it was put at that price, the tickets were sold out in ten hours! And yes, it was worth every single penny of my money.

Their concert was held on Wednesday, April 27th 2011. Some of my friends skipped class to get front row view of the show. I would love to do that too but I could never prioritize some concert over school. And so I went there with Petra, Astrid (Petra's sister), Deva, and Gaby. Gaby's mom drove us there. By the time we arrived at Istora, thank God the line wasn't that long.

After a few steps, we were inside the building and we saw that the first few rows weren't filled yet. We practically ran inside the concert hall and found quite a good spot. We were in the center-left of the third row. It was about 5pm. While the concert started at 8pm. 3 hours of waiting? No problem.

At 8pm, none of the band members came out. The crowd was starting to get frustrated. We were shouting, "Muh-roon 5! Muh-roon 5!" the entire time. And by 8:15pm the lights were finally turned off and we heard the intro of Misery. And the next thing we knew, Adam Levine was on stage, standing and posing in front of us. He was even more handsome and hotter in person. We screamed so hard!

To tell you the truth, I'd already found out about their setlist for the show so I wasn't really surprised with the songs they sang. But man, did Adam kill it or what. Maroon 5 really knew how to put on a show. This might sound silly, but he sounded WAY BETTER in person than in my iTunes. I mean, some singers auto-tuned themselves to sound better in their songs, and I just thought that Adam did too. But nope, he was AH-MAZING. He moved all over the stage and was flirting with the ladies in the crowd. He even sprayed the water that he drank on us. Igotsprayedtoojustsoyouknow. Hahaha omg I sounded so fangirl-like.

Anyways, the surprise was not when Adam said, "Aku cinta kamu." to the ladies. It was when they performed the acoustic version of She Will be Loved. At the end of the song, the crowd suddenly turned into their backing vocals! We sang, "Please don't try so hard to say goodbye..." as Adam sang his line. It was spectacular. Adam was completely surprised. He pointed his finger at us and said things like, "You guys are such good singers! Such good singers. I love it." "And you do it without me even asking you to. That's great." "One more time, that sounds so beautiful!" And the thing that made my heart melts was when he said, "This is the best crowd we've ever had! It really is." in the middle of singing Never Gonna Leave This Bed. Well I can't blame him though, we sang along to every single songs they brought. It was crazy!

Here are some pics of the show that I took with my cellphone.

The esteemed Michael "Mickey" Madden. Bassist.

Adam in action! One of my favorite pictures from the show. I can't believe I was able to shot this!

The concert was wild. There was this girl who tried so hard to get in front of me that she actually had the guts to pull my hair. I had to shove her out of my way. HAHA. But this was definitely unforgettable! Even now I still can't believe that I'd seen Adam Levine in person. It was just so surreal. I've been listening and singing to their songs since 5th grade and then there he was, performing in front of my eyes. What an indescribable feeling.

Oh, have I mentioned that Adam Levine himself posted four videos of his tour in Jakarta on Adam Levine's Video of The Day? But don't take my word for it. Take his:

Bottom line is, what a spectacular concert to be in and I'm so so glad that I got to be in that crowd and see Adam Levine, James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Matt Flynn perform. LOVE YOU MAROON 5! COME BACK TO JAKARTA SOON! XO
